Samuel is searching for a new King to anoint, and when he finds David, God says, “This is he.” Then, hundreds of years later, John the Baptist is searching for a new King to anoint, and Jesus comes to him to be baptized. And what does God say? “This is He.” “This is my beloved Son.”
