In this episode, Peter Ott discusses potential ethical issues faced by lawyer-agents in the sports world with Jeff Meehan.  Jeff wrote an article about the particular challenges faced by sports agents who are also lawyers that was published in the Spring 2014 edition of the Sports Lawyers Journal entitled “Harvard or Hardball? An Examination of Ethical Issues Faced by Lawyer-Agents.” Although many sports agents have law degrees, the rules of professional conduct that lawyers are subject to potentially expose these lawyer-agents to greater liability than their peers.
