 Debbie &amp; Cody Today, I continue my series, the women of medical cannabis, with an intimate conversation with my very good friend Debbie Wilson PhD. Debbie has been on the forefront of women activism for decades. I first saw Debbie speak at a United Patients Group Conference back in May of 2016, and I was captivated by her unbelievable story of triumph over severe physical and psychological traumas. Debbie is a 30-year survivor of several brain injuries, resulting in severely debilitating epilepsy and PTSD.  She has had 3 near-death experiences and broke her neck… twice! Debbie has literally lost everything…her health, her organs and her memory, and if it wasn’t for her son, Cody, she would have been institutionalized. But, instead of languishing in an institution, she inched her way back through a painfully slow, drug-addled, recovery to become a fierce activist for the rights of patients and people with disabilities. She fought and won a very high-profile court case, against one of the largest pharmaceutical companies in the world. And along with that she went out and got herself a PhD, after being told that she’ll never be able to read or write again. Then she discovered cannabis. Cannabis has played an enormous part in her recovery, and still does. She has been able to become completely pharmaceutical free, thanks to cannabis, in both raw and in traditional form. Debbie is a survivor and is one of the most inspirational people that I know. In episode 21, I  present part two, of the two-part series, where I talk about the legal and social dilemmas that affects a lot of people when they consider medical cannabis. Joining me in this discussion is Diana Peña of Myriam’s Hope, Corinne Malanca or The United Patients Group, and of course my good friend Debbie M. Wilson PhD who, unfortunately, has more experience with this subject than most people. In this episode Diana, Corinne, Debbie and I talk about the dilemma many face of knowing that cannabis may be able to safely and effectively treat a condition that you, or a loved one, are struggling with and yet, the price of using medical cannabis is the potential loss of your family, friends and you’re your social support. And what makes this dilemmas so terrible is that oftentimes cannabis may be the only effective treatment for what you are struggling with, such as severe epilepsy or brain cancer thus making it truly a life and death decision. First, I talk with Diana Pena, co-founder of Myriam’s Hope, a wonderful collective located down in southern California. Myriam’s Hope specializes in working with people who are struggling with cancers and epilepsy. These people often turn to cannabis as their last resort. Myriam’s hope works with some excellent nurses and doctors and provide some of the best dosing protocols available. Next, I talk with Corinne Malanca, co-founder, with her husband John, of The United Patients Group which is an excellent resource that provides not only support to patients, but is also one of the premier resources for the education of health professionals, legal professionals and government bodies as to the use of medical cannabis. And finally, I will be talking with Debbie M. Wilson PhD. Debbie is a remarkable woman, and a very good friend of mine, who has more personal experience in this area than anybody that I know.
