In this episode I'm chatting with Ian Grech BFE, editor of the film '14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible', which is now available to watch on Netflix.With over 15 years of experience in Post-Production, Ian is an extremely sought-after Editor and Colourist. His work has been recognised by BAFTA, The Royal Television Society and The Primetime Emmy Awards, and has worked on projects such as 'Top Gear', along with a multitude of sports-related projects such as 'Adam Hills: Take His Legs', 'Beyond Human', and 'UEFA Champions League'.His latest work, '14 Peaks: Nothing Is Impossible', follows the fearless Nepali mountaineer Nirmal Purja aka "Nims", as he embarks on "Project Possible", a seemingly impossible quest to summit all 14 of the world's 8,000-meter peaks in seven months. It was Ian’s job to elaborate on the character of Nims to show the audience what makes him the man that he is and what his motivations were for completing such a life-threatening task.Throughout the editing process, Ian collaborated closely with director Torquil Jones to complete the challenging task of showcasing the trials and tribulations of each peak, whilst piecing together the hundreds of hours of footage in a way that was both exciting and true to the story.Support this show http://supporter.acast.com/geektown. Ian Grech edited an amazing documentary currently streaming on Netflix called "14 Peaks." Our host, Cirina Catania, talked with him about how he managed to juggle over 100 hours of footage in multiple formats using Premiere Pro.“14 Peaks - Nothing is Impossible.” is a compelling documentary currently available on Netflix. It tells the story of Nimsdai Purja, a fearless Nepali athlete and his vow to climb every mountain in the world higher than 8,000 meters in less than 7 months. It was a death-defying feat and Nims broke several world records in the process, including the fastest ascent of all peaks over 8,000 meters without supplementary oxygen. His final finishing time was 6 months, 6 days!Of course, the story is fascinating, because of the physical and mental challenges, but also because of the heart-warming backstories of Nim’s family and friends.  Cirina spoke with Ian about his workflow, Premiere Pro, building the storylines from a myriad of  different media formats and sub-stories. Ian worked with over 100 hours of footage!For more information about our amazing sponsor, Other World Computing, go to OWCDigital.com, where you’ll find hardware and software solutions and tutorial videos that will get you up and running in no time.
