On this episode, I talk to public relations powerhouses Simona Noce and Nikki Osei-Barrett about the importance of creating a mom community and their upcoming inaugural event The Momference. Simona and Nikki started District MotherHued in 2016, the premiere organization for millennial moms of color to equip and engage women looking to expand their mom tribe. What started out as a party quickly evolved into a full fledged organization in the DMV area. With events such as the Mom Loft and Mommy En Blanc, it’s no wonder moms across the nation want to get in on the action. The Momference will host powerful influencers such as Kahlana Barfield Brown, Instyle Magazine’s Fashion and Beauty Editor and Julee Wilson, Fashion &amp; Beauty Director at Essence Magazine as well as panelist Rainbow Barris, author of Keeping up with the Johnsons: Bow’s Guide to Black-ish Parenting. Simona Noce is an accomplished Public Relations manager who has worked with some heavyweights, but her greatest achievement and her most important role is being a mom. Simona is skilled and dedicated public relations professional with an intense passion for media, entertainment, and the execution of creative ideas and special events. She has pierced the world of both Hollywood glamour and the non-profits sectors in the D.C area. She is currently a full-time entrepreneur running The NoceModel, a  PR &amp; marketing strategic firm, focused on creative, entertainment, lifestyle, and tech brands.  She is also the co-creator of District Motherhued, Washington's premier organization for millennial moms of color.   She recently launched The Momference which is a conference all about mothering and entrepreneurship as a mother of color.  Tickets sold out within a couple of weeks! Simona Noce is a PR guru and special events maven, but she's a millennial mom first! She was juggling a pr career - which has the craziest hours, evening and weekend events took a toll on her. With all of that, she decided to follow her passion, by adding more to her plate and started a wedding planning business and doing PR on the side while working a full time job. She had to give up the possibility to move up in her career, take great positions in the company, and live in LA or NY.  She got to a point in motherhood where she had to follow what she loved and what was best for her family. She loved her career but decided that to be a present and available mom and focus on her passion of events as an entrepreneur, she had to transition and is now the founder of The NoceModel PR and co-founder of District MotherHued.
