He wrote and illustrated a book called Jasper and Ollie and I was one of the lucky people who got to see a mock up copy of it and talk to him about his experience! You can pre-order it on Amazon. The book is really cute and the artwork is very engaging. I actually loved reading it and feel like it will be an instant success. This conversation was so important because Alex speaks very openly about the rejection that he went through in the initial stages of attempting to get his book published. He spoke openly about the fear that is very real of not pursuing your purpose in the first place but instead dancing around it and distracting yourself. We are all guilty of it. He is an inspiration to me because he took the bull by the horns and started taking steps towards his purpose. Why do we say take the bull by the horns? Doesn’t it seem to communicate that we grab the bull and get our way or does the bull represent our fear, our ego and all our other nonsense excuses and reasons why we aren’t pursuing what we know in our hearts? So he took THAT bull by the horns and went to his first Children’s book conference and started his mission. Listen to his story as it will inspire you! My favorite message from the whole thing which might not have been perfectly or clearly spelled out in the conversation, the message I was hearing was all those rejections are honing you in, you become more and more ready to earn what you are asking for the more times you try and the more times you go back to the drawing board to perfect and squeeze more of your heart and soul into your project.
