Carl Armato, the CEO of Novant Health, has lived with his diabetes diagnosis for over 50 years. In spite of his diabetes not being easy to live with, he has overcome it and lived a full, active, life with a very successful career. In the book A Future With Hope: An Inspiring Guide to Overcoming Diabetes (Carl S. Armato, 2018), Carl is transparent about the difficulties both he and his family faced as he was growing up. He talks about his family and his parents whom optimized their family life style for his health. Taking control of his diabetes at a young age, he never let it make him “different” or forfeit his dreams. In this book Carl talks about the importance of both a support network and vigilance when it comes to managing the disease.
