Episode #1 - Karla Sanders: Breaking down the stereotypes of typical leaders

Young people need to be part of the solution to stop bullying in schools, one expert believes. The Children's Commissioner wants to see a compulsory nationwide approach.A report by the Chief Ombudsman found an Auckland school failed to do anything about an autistic boy being bullied.Sticks'n'stones CEO Karla Sanders told Kate Hawkesby investment is needed in anti-bullying approaches."But I'm worried that a one-size-fits-all model isn't going to be a way that will meet the ways of all of our schools, but something else does need to be done."She says getting children involved in finding solutions would help."A lot of the time we will have staff within school saying these are the key issues, and then when we unpack that and do action research with the students themselves and find out what they are perceiving as the issues, that can be vastly different."
