We speak with Bronwyn Currie, Animal Justice Party VIC Lead Senate Candidate for the upcoming Australian Federal Election.  Bronwyn is a longtime resident of Melbourne’s bayside area and has broad professional experience across a wide range of areas. She has been passionate about animals her entire life, Bronwyn’s contributions to animal protection have been recognized through multiple nominations for the Kingston Woman of the Year Award and was also a popular nomination for an Australia Day Award. Talking live export, the Australian Federal election and Mother's Day with Bronwyn Currie, Animal Justice Party VIC

Bronwyn moved around alot as a child as her father was an army officer, so they lived across Australia and overseas. Moving often gave Bron the opportunity to become resilient and self reliant, with animals being her constant companions. Having seen some of the horrible things that go on in the world, Bron became aware from a young age that there are animals and people in the world who need our help.Bron witnessed her father and brother hunting and as a result, she was vegetarian for most of her life. Five years ago, one of Bron's children went vegan and encouraged the whole family to follow their footsteps. The family agreed to research veganism themselves and at that point Bron began cooking deconstructed dinners, so family members could take what they wanted for their meal. It didn't take long before they realised no-one was eating meat, so everyone decided to go vegan.A year later, Bron went to a Melbourne Cow Save event to bear witness to cows being transported to their slaughter. She still gets emotional to this day, recalling the helplessness she felt as truck after truck went by and she couldn't save the individuals on board. Bron quickly got involved in all of the Save events such as rallies and vigils and became an organiser for Melbourne Goat Save and Melbourne Fish Save. Bron saw an information session advertised for her local Animal Justice Party (AJP) group, so she went along and walked out of the meeting a candidate in the next election! Bron has always been interested in politics, seeing the regulatory system as a way to bring about change for animals. Bron is currently running as a Lead Senate candidate in the upcoming 2022 Federal election.Bron has always been heavily involved in her local community, both in her children's school associations as well as currently being the President of her local community centre. Always a feminist, Bron felt called to be involved in the Women's March for Justice organisation, having organised both Melbourne events the last two years. Bronwyn is a passionate advocate for animals, the environment and people. A member of the Animal Justice Party, a political party create approximately 10 years ago dedicated to ending animal cruelty. An advocate for kindness, rationality, non violence and equality. Bronwyn was a candidate for Kingston council elections this year and she is committed to looking after the local wetlands, supporting the traders and coming together to create solutions. Bronwyn is a strong supporter of one of the Two Natural Ladies passions- picking up rubbish and looking after our water ways, sustainability including meatless Monday.
