Kelli McLoud-Schingen is a world-class bridge builder, using the power of story and art to bring about social and racial justice. In this interview, she details how her upbringing in Chicago fueled her current passion for inclusive leadership and intercultural competence. We answer pertinent questions from the diversity, equity, and inclusion field, including why Black self-determinism is non negotiable and often overlooked, how art can transform perspectives, and why gradual change is no longer a viable solution.     Bio: Kelli McLoud-Schingen is President and principal facilitator/trainer for KMS Intercultural Consulting, LLC. She specializes in Inclusive Leadership, Global Diversity and Inclusion, Storytelling, Cultural Competence, Social Justice, Healing Racism, Conflict Resolution/Mediation, and Team-building. She has facilitated development workshops, trainings and dramatic presentations for educational, non-profit, government and corporate institutions in the USA and internationally since 1989. In this Episode of Learner Journeys, Bastian speaks with Kelli McLoud-Schingen Kelli McLoud-Schingen, President of KMS Intercultural Consulting, is a Global Diversity and Inclusion Specialist with over 30 years’ experience in the Diversity and Intercultural Fields.  Kelli specializes in global diversity, equity and inclusion, healing racism, cross-cultural competence, conflict resolution/mediation, storytelling and inclusive leadership. She has facilitated workshops for educational, non-profit, government and corporate institutions in the USA and globally since 1989. Kelli is co-author of the “Cultural Detective: African American”, a contributing author for Sage Publications of “Prejudice, Bias, and Discrimination”, and a certified professional mediator and administrator for the Intercultural Development Inventory (IDI). She holds a B.A. in Communication and a M.A. in Cross-Cultural Studies. She is also an accomplished actor and director and founded the World Stage Theatre Company where she serves as the Artistic Director.  Kelli is a member of the Global Community Dialogue and is a Past-President for the Society of Intercultural, Education, Training and Research - USA.   Kelli and Bastian talk about the power of storytelling in educational settings and how to work with them in an educational, purposeful and sensitive way. Intimacy with our feelings, with the earth, with one another, with spirit, with the soul, with our heartbeat… and perhaps even with the virus itself. Because we already have the impulse to connect, intimacy allows us to move from division to wholeness… We are invited to get closer and closer until we realize that we are, in fact, not separate but a part of everything.
