During the Civil War a free man of color named Henry Lowry defended his father in a dispute with a neighbor over hogs. That defense included the use of banned firearms.  As a result Henry became the head of a guerrilla gang of family members and others which roamed eastern North Carolina for nearly ten years.  Today we tell Henry’s story.
