El doctor Jacinto Bátiz, director del Instituto para Cuidar Mejor del Hospital San Juan de Dios de Santurtzi, ha sido elegido como ganador de la categoría individual de los Premios europeos Kate Granger al Cuidado Compasivo. “Para un médico paliativista -reconoce Bátiz- es un honor ser distinguido con los Premios Europeos Kate Granger al Cuidado Compasivo. Y a la vez, es una gran satisfacción personal ser reconocido por mi labor de cuidar con compasión desde mi corazón al enfermo y a su familia, para convertir la transición de la vida a la muerte en una experiencia menos traumática, evitando el sufrimiento innecesario”.

Dr Kate Granger is an Elderly Medicine Consultant in her early 30s in Yorkshire in the UK - 'Nothing unusual about that really' as she comments in her blog. What is different about Kate is that for several years she has been living with a  terminal cancer diagnosis and how she has navigated that journey. She is the author of two books and has blogged to over a million readers on her blog.
