‘We’re all responsible for each other so…help!’ Sophie Corbett discusses the importance of using our voices to make a difference where we have influence, from raising her sons to be respectful, kind and loving, to using her YouTube channel SOTALK to help break the taboo surrounding the menopause. Ali is joined on the podcast by the brilliant Sophie Corbett. Sophie has worked as a voiceover artist for over 23 years and been involved in the entertainment industry from a young age. Discussing her time in the entertainment industry, Sophie regrets having missed some opportunities due fear of men and uncertainty about their motives when she was younger, but that strides have been made in terms of equality in the entertainment industry since then. Though Sophie has never labelled herself as a feminist, she places great importance on the equitable values feminism teaches and these are at the heart of how she raises her sons: to be kind, understanding, rounded and loving (even if means having some awkward conversations!). Sophie’s actions to make the world a kinder place extend outside of the home; after experiencing symptoms of the menopause and recognising the taboo that still exists around it, Sophie stated SOTALK, a YouTube channel dedicated to breaking stigma and inspire people to feel less alone. The late, great Ronnie Corbett was a British national treasure for his work as a comedian and comedy actor. In this episode his actor daughter Sophie discusses what an amazing man, father and inspiration he was.In Almost Famous, Barnaby Slater chats to guests who also grew up with famous family members and asks how it has affected their journeys through life.
