Dr. Leslea Hlusko is currently the Vice President of the American Association of Physical Anthropology and a professor of integrative biology at UC Berkeley. She will soon be joining Centro Nacional de Investigación sobre la Evolución Humana, CENIEH, in Burgos, Spain as a research professor. SoS 94 - The Theatrics and Quantitative Genetics of Dental Anthropology with Leslea Hlusko

Dr. Alan Walked passed away on November 20, 2017. A paleoanthropologist known for his work in early human evolution, Dr. Walker was the Evan Pugh Professor of Biological Anthropology and Biology at the Pennsylvania State University and was also a research scientist at the National Museum of Kenya. During his impressive career Dr. Walker discovered the “Black Skull” and was also on the research team that discovered Turkana Boy. He received many awards throughout his life, including a MacArthur Fellowship "genius grant". El primero nos lo proporciona Leslea Hlusko, antropóloga de la Universidad de California, Berkeley, quien nos habla sobre cómo las modificaciones en los dientes de nuestros ancestros hace 4 millones de años influyeron en nuestra evolución, y la forma en que los genes pudieron participar en ese cambio. El segundo momento clave nos lo cuenta Linda Manzanilla, arqueóloga de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México, y tiene que ver con el nacimiento de las ciudades, una transición que marcó a la gran mayoría de las sociedades humanas.
