The Senate version of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act would modify the rules for determining the income tax basis of a life insurance or annuity contract in connection with a sale of the contract. In effect, the bill would reverse the guidance issued by the IRS in Rev. Rul. 2009-13. In this podcast, Larry Brody discusses the proposal.
