Special Needs Spotlight: Secrets to Dyslexia and Curiosity with Melinda Mulcahy

The one thing that connects all humanity is that no matter our creed, ethnicity, or religion we all have a story. This podcast brings extraordinary individuals from all walks of life who extract principles out of their story that give "POWER." This week on Power of Story Podcast... 🎙 Join host Darren M. Palmer, Chief Book Officer of Self Publish N 30 Days as he interviews Melinda Mulcahy, The Curiosity Queen and listen to her amazing and powerful story. Melinda was born and bred on the sunny Southern beaches of Sydney, Australia where she met her Welsh husband. At the age of 21, she then moved to the other side of the world to one of the least sunny countries where she lives now, in the Vale of Glamorgan, South Wales, UK with her two beautiful teenage daughters and smiley Dalmatian. Not a move for the faint hearted and not something she would ever recommend! Melinda's career was predominantly in Sales and she was known to be a high achiever, bagging the largest new sale in the history of Yellow Pages UK for instance. But after her breakdown and resultant mental scarring, she took a break, got pregnant and taught herself to make precious jewelry where she grew her business internationally.  Her work has been seen on A listers, billboards, in music videos and featured in Magazines and newspapers including Vogue, InStyle, Tatler etc. But her self-sabotage even ended that 13 year business. Due to declining health Melinda decided to find out what was wrong with her. She subsequently spent 5 years studying happiness scientifically which unleashed a divine storm (also known as a perfect storm which sometimes happens with enlightenment). It was only then, just over 2 years ago that she realized upon her cancer diagnosis that it was her curiosity that got her through and that happiness is contingent upon circumstance, which is where happiness falters - this is key!  Afterwards, she began to investigate curiosity scientifically. Melinda is now liasing with the world's leading High-Performance Neuro-Socio Psychologist who is interested to help prove her findings scientifically. But actually there is enough evidence in publications by a few world leading scientists to substantiate these findings already. Finally, key to my life long struggles was due to her dyslexia which wasn’t actually diagnosed until about 8 years ago. When she realized it was the main contributor to her mental health issues (which she is also happy to discuss.)  Needless to say, that answered a lot! This is why Melinda is now actively encouraging anyone who thinks they or their child has dyslexia to get it diagnosed.
