It explores how Jewish communities navigate the concepts of safety and unsafety in traditional, contemporary, and futuristic ways. The fifteen featured artists tap into ancestral and historical Jewish narratives, while imagining what safety, solidarity, and mutual aid mean in today’s world. The exhibit focuses on how people who have been marginalized and excluded from Jewish institutional spaces experience physical and emotional harm and safety. He comes to Charm City from Tucson, Arizona, where he was director of The Jewish History Museum and Holocaust History Center. Dr. Ilana Kaufman, the Executive Director of the Jews of Color Initiative will talk about her latest project, Count Us In, which explores the experiences of Jews of Color in America.
