Cette semaine, je rencontre le peintre Christian Bonnefoi. Quand il peint, c’est sur les deux côtés d’une toile transparente, donnant à voir une forme complètement traversée par la lumière d’un lieu.    Comme un surfeur sur une vague, il reste toujours à la surface de la toile qu'il retourne sur elle-même à mesure qu’il la travaille.  Pourquoi cet attachement à la surface ? Parce que rien de ce qui est visible n’y est absent.   Mais quel genre d’accomplissement personnel accompagne cette recherche de transparence ?     C'est la question de la semaine.

Christian Bonnefoi talks to Wael Hattar about his work across the years and his most recent show “Double Take" at the Jean-Paul Najar Foundation in Al Serkal Avenue, Dubai. An interesting person to hear from, we were also able to discuss how he sees his work now, from when he started 40 years ago. The show is on until February 28, 2017.
