Bassist Gerald Veasley landed on the national music scene in 1988 working with Weather Report's Joe Zawinul.  In the early 1990's Gerald started to release solo albums on a regular basis, which now totals nearly a dozen.  You'll also find him on other recordings including those by Grover Washington, Jr., Chuck Loeb, Special EFX and B.B. King.  Ray White, producer of syndicated radio shows and podcasts, sat down with Gerald in November of 2021 to talk about the pioneers in contemporary jazz, highlights of his career, the demeanor of musicians in the jazz genre, being a radio jock and his latest album - Live At The South.  Lisa Davis, your "Hostess with the Mostest," features the talented saxophonist, flutist and Vocalist Paula Atherton in our showcase segment.  Paula's latest Top 5 hit is "Keep It Coming."  We close out the show featuring a super Soul and R&amp;B singer/songwriter, Leela James, whose latest release is See Me.  Bringing you the latest and greatest from legacy bands and performers, spend 30 minutes hanging with the Coool CAT.

Philadelphia Native, Gerald has brought his 6-string bass all over the world performing with Grover Washington Jr., Joe Zawinul, McCoy Tyner, and Odean Pope to name a few. I’ve gotten to know Gerald through his work as president of Jazz Philadelphia, a non-profit seeking to strengthen and elevate the Jazz ecosystem in our city. Although this is a conversation between two bassists, we don’t actually talk about bass that much. Most of the conversation centers around one of my favorite topics, the art of learning, which is a common theme whenever Gerald and I get a chance to speak.www.geraldveasley.com
