Understanding your value, saying ‘no ‘and knowing your return on investment, with guest Claire Ness. ----more---- Claire Ness is a multi-disciplinary artist born and raised in Whitehorse, Yukon. She studied Comedy Writing and Performance at Humber College in Toronto and Circus Teaching at École Nationale de Cirque in Montréal. Claire is a singer-songwriter with four albums (Broccoli Farm 2020, On the Trail 2017, Jackfish Girl 2014, Hopeless Romantic 2013). She has toured across the country and been Artist in Residence for the Keno Arts Workshop, the Jennihouse Residency, and the Singer-Songwriter Residency at the Banff Centre. Claire works in the theatre as a writer, director, actor and puppeteer. She directed “The Anger in Ernest and Ernestine” at the Guild Hall Theatre, toured to Australia with the Yukon Gold Comics, and was a co-creator for “Tombstone: a Cardboard Western”, “Zeitgeist Cabaret”, “The Varietease Burlesque Cabaret” and the infamous “Lunacy Cabaret”. She was Leading Lady in “The Frantic Follies Vaudeville Revue” and recently won the title of the Yukon Sourdough Rendezvous Headliner. Claire is also a balloon-twisting clown and stiltwalker, and is the Founder and Artistic Director of Yukon Circus Society, teaching circus camps and workshops across the Yukon with a focus on remote communities. Claire has organized and produced many different events, starting with a couple of open-mic comedy nights back when she was a stand-up comic, moving onto cabarets and circus camps, and then taking on some benefit concerts and fundraisers for causes close to her heart: Playin for the Peel, Swingin for the Philippines, United Way Plane Pull, Bruce Bergman’s Bash etc. She co-produced with Nakai Theatre her dad’s play “Dogtown the Musical” and has been producing Canada Day in Whitehorse for the past 6 years. “Definitely one of the colourful five percent.” – Jim Robb, Yukon Icon “When I listen to her voice, I want her to be my friend.
