There’s Charlotte famous, and then there’s Dianne Chipps Bailey. You cannot be a lawyer in Charlotte without at least knowing the name, Dianne Chipps Bailey. How providential to have Dianne as a guest in March, known as women’s history month. To say the timing was intentional or anything other than an accident would be a gross misstatement. Here’s to providence. Dianne is known because of her work for others. If you were to look up the corporate filings of nonprofits around this city, and you can find those on the North Carolina Secretary of State’s website, you will find an inordinate amount signed and filed by Dianne. She has helped some of the best of Charlotte’s best get started. Dianne reflects on the generosity of Americans with total giving setting a new record high of $471 billion in 2020.  So we’ll focus on the human stuff, things like: what has Dianne learned about herself in giving to others; what’s something that’s often misunderstood about philanthropic work; when did Dianne realize she could do this for a living; and what would Dianne say to a lawyer who feels constrained by a world o limited possibility. Her time is in demand and she chose us.

She leads the non-profit and foundations practice group for Robinson Bradshaw, a full service law firm based in Charlotte, North Carolina. She has served on many non-profit boards and is particularly engaged in women's philanthropic giving.
