Culture is defined as the customs, arts, social institutions, and achievements of a particular nation, people, or another social group—with modifiers in the attitudes and behavioral characteristics of a specific social group.In this podcast, we talk about the role of culture, and specifically, we apply two modifiers: Company and Security.Social group cultures, of any size and any level, require a significant amount of time to form, develop, and change—by definition, it is also the result of an organic process. Still, it sure doesn't come from nothing; nor is it magic.We all have a role to play; our actions and choices shape our cultures and our experience. Leaders can, should, and must contribute to shaping our societies as their position is the one with more weight than others.Here is an exciting suggestion presented by one of today's guest: instead of calling it culture, we could call it situational awareness."If we can be situationally aware of what our company does, what the environment is that it does it in, what our customers are expecting of us, what our regulators are looking for—if we can be situationally aware, we can tailor our roadmap and our plan to be appropriate for our environment."—Yael Nagler.Ultimately, it's about understanding where everybody's coming from, where the organization marches towards the same objectives, embracing the same vision, embarking on the same mission, holding the same values, and applying the same principles. Organizations can't force any of this; it needs to happen naturally.
