Quote

"The rational mind is a faithful servant, whilst the intuitive mind is a sacred gift. We're living in a society that more and more honors the servant and forgets the gift"

Ideas

1

The brain is divided into two hemispheres so that it can produce two different views of reality at the same time.
The right hemisphere focuses on the big picture, whilst the left side focuses on details, both of which are essential at the same time.

For example, a bird, in order to survive, needs the targeted attention of it's left brain to pick up twigs, build a nest and to find food. But if it's only paying attention to those tasks, it'll become somebody else's lunch in the process of doing all of this. This is where you need the right side of the brain to pay attention to the bigger picture of things such as potential predators.

Metaphors aren't just a part of the way we understand something, it's actually the fundamental way we get to more deeply understand everything.
When we learn something new by comparing it to something we already understand, we get a depth of understanding that doesn't exist with literal meaning.

We can't understand anything without a model in which we compare & break down things.
However, all models are wrong, but some are useful.

The progress of science and our goal is to always move from one model, to a better one.
