Taking Timeouts During An NPTE

Failing repeatedly at any challenge is never a fun experience, but it sure as hell isn't when you feel that your future is on the line.  I found my passion in helping physical therapists pass their NPTE after going through the worst years of my life. Seriously... I hated myself. I had no self-esteem, lost all confidence, and even considered suicide during all of it. All because I wasn't good enough to pass a stupid exam. For several years my life was defined by my ability to pass a standardized exam. I "failed" the MCAT 5 times, SATs twice and the ACTs twice. This is a tough topic for me to discuss.  A student told me that she feels her school is worried more about their 100% pass rate than her genuinely passing.  That got to me because, how can we make it to the next level if we are all out for ourselves? If all we do is TAKE, TAKE, TAKE. As a coach, you have to understand that your success is in part dependent upon your trainee's mental state. If the people you train, are worried about succeeding just to make "you" happy, you both will fail. AND FAIL HARD. The key to success in coaching/teaching, making your students believe in their capabilities while helping them become aware of their purpose for competing.  Do you need someone in your corner who understands failure and the NPTE? The Next Attempt Is The Last Attempt

It is the fact that my CI was able to recognize a set of patterns which guided him/her to the right answer quickly. The NPTE is no different. You can take the NPTE 5 times and still not be quick at answering questions. It isn't about experience but pattern recognition. The absolute worst part of the testing experience is the waiting period for your results. I mean why do they really have to make you wait entire 6-7 days!! Complete torture to be honest. That week of waiting is filled with anxiety, stress, poor eating habits, and the lack of anything filling your mind but the possibility of failing. One of my most favorite topics. Confidence has such a big impact on tests scores. You already know that I come from a background where I wasn’t very confident.   A background where I felt like I was the worst test taker out there. The person that you know just didn’t have it.
