You’d be surprised by the number of jobs there are in any industry. You may even discover some apprenticeships or internships that you can apply for. The creative industry is booming.  Try not to feel disheartened if there are people who criticise your subject choices, your career is your own to choose &amp; you don’t need a specific Degree, A-Levels or GCSE’s for the events sector. Show you are a creative person beyond the questions they are asking you in an application. Link anything that you have been working on (Blogs, Videos, Artwork etc). It will make your application more personable and allow employers to see more about you and the real life work that you are doing. It will make you a person, not just an application.  For event management you need to have a level head, be a quick thinker, be good at communicating, remain calm under pressure, have time management skills, and have a good attitude with steady enthusiasm throughout a project. Employers love to see people being involved with societies through university or high school connected to your career area.  Northern Ireland’s events sector is incredible, it is not necessary to move away to get opportunities, jobs or experience. Moving away can be scary at first, but do your research before you move to see if it is for you. Get a cheap return flights to London for the day, have a walk around and see what you want to see. Get a feel for the city before making any big decisions.  Reach out to people who have moved to London and see what they think of it. There is no harm in saying ‘No’ or asking for help. Have a Self-Care Sunday to yourself and make sure you take the rest days that you need.
