hi guys and welcome back to the mystery and comedy Old Time radio podcast. please join me this morning as I bring back to the show to chill our spines Mr Joseph Kearns. you may have heard Mr Kearns on my first episode that I did on him last Summer and if you haven't I would highly recommend going back and listening to that episode first. but this morning Mr Kearns comes back to the show to chill our spines in this first episode he plays a British doctor who has become a widow when his wife dies. the doctors who tried to save her don't know how she dies. the only one who knows is Dr Neil cream. after his wife's death he ends up moving to a boarding house and takes a room there he ends up falling for the boarding House managers daughter. but unfortunately for Dr Cream she does not like older man and wants to end the relationship so the doctor has an idea of how to stop her from seeing another man. he ends up putting something in her drink which ends up almost killing her. the title of that episode is called a story of poison. in this next episode Mr Joseph Kearns please a man who is returning from a day of work to his apartment one night and ends up finding his roommate dead with a knife in his back. when he's alone in his apartment he ends up falling in love with a very attractive woman. but unfortunately for him he does not know that she is the woman who killed his roommate. and it is from the mystery show The Whistler, the episode is called the lady with a knife. and then this final episode Mr Kern's plays a man who is mentally ill and who is suffering from a disease and rights a final letter before passing away. in this story the man thinks that he has killed someone but later on in the episode The doctors that work there no that's not true. and the title of that episode is called the earth is made of glass. Joseph Kearns part 2

Kearns joined the staff of radio station KSL in Salt Lake City in 1930 remaining there until 1936 when he moved to Los Angeles. Kearns began his acting career in radio in the 1930s (playing the Crazyquilt Dragon in the serial The Cinnamon Bear), becoming active during the 1940s, with appearances on the shows The Adventures of Sam Spade, Burns and Allen, The Whistler, and dozens of other shows. On Suspense, he was almost a mainstay, heard regularly as the host "The Man in Black" in the early years, announcing many episodes in the later run, and playing supporting and occasional lead roles in hundreds of shows throughout the series' tenure in Hollywood, from judges to kindly old-timers to cowards.He also appeared on The New Adventures of Sherlock Holmes, playing various different characters including Professor Moriarty and even Dr. Watson. Mr Kearns appeared in many movies such as storm center,the huckers , our miss Brooks and the 1951 Disney movie Alice in wonderland. He is best known for his TV appears in the 1956 TV comedy show Dennis the menace and Perry Manson, the Ozzie and Harriet Nelson show. Mr Kearns enjoyed his career until passing away at the age of 55 in 1962. Tonight Mr Kearns comes to the show to chill our spines. In this first episode mr. Kearns plays a man named mr. Bailey who is a restaurant owner and has a very good business until in unfortunate thing happens a horribly disfigured man comes to the restaurant everyday the title of that show is called short order which appeared on suspense. In the second episode mr. Kearns plays a man named Peter mannford mr. Manford is a man who is trying to make his niece go crazy after showing her a very odd figure. Though he was rarely the star of the show, Joseph Kearns was one of the most frequently heard voices on Suspense. For years, he played supporting roles and introduced stories as the "Man in Black." He was one of radio's most versatile and talented character actors, but he also shined when he stepped into lead roles. We'll hear him in "Short Order" (originally aired on CBS on August 16, 1945) and "The Earth is Made of Glass" (originally aired on CBS on June 15, 1954).
