For nearly ten years Danielle Baldino grappled with her increasing addiction to alcohol, including during her 6 years as a Navy Nurse Corps Officer. She spent a lot of that time in denial: because her drinking habits didn’t fit the typical “alcoholic” definition, because she was a woman, because she was an officer and a nurse. In 2017 she had finally had enough and set on her path to recovery. Now a veteran, Danielle is 8 months alcohol-free and is determined to de-stigmatize recovery. She has started the San Diego Recovering Womens’ Social Club meetup which is now over 100 women strong! Her meetup focuses on offering women the opportunity to enjoy common alcohol-centric activities, such as Paint Nights and brunch, except without the booze.
