                From Rocket Science to a Composting Service - Garrett Menghini, Down to Earth Composting
            

Garrett and Dr. Ray chat about the very tangible step of keeping our food scraps out of the landfill through composting.  “Sustainable practices, without them there isn’t a future for our kids and grandkids to look forward to.” Garrett is a Reno native who spent eight-years moving up and down the west coast before finding his way back home a few years ago.  He has an electrical engineering degree, two years of experience as an aerospace engineer at SpaceX (an Elon Musk company), one failed tech startup, and one thru-hike of the 2650-mile Pacific Crest Trail under his belt.  After moving back to Reno a few years ago he waded into the startup work again, this time venturing into the sustainability industry. Through a series of twists and turns, he is now the owner and operator of Down To Earth Composting – Reno’s bike-powered compost collection service, which serves over 350 households in the Reno area.
