Bruce Thomson is a professor of Industrial Design at Humber College, teaching visual communications and automotive design studio classes. Bruce has many extensive years of teaching and freelance design experience, as well as working as a designer for Ford in Europe. Bruce went to college at OCA and later returned to education to pursue his Masters in Vehicle Design at the RCA. Bruce is a good mate and always brings a great laugh!  We chat about the importance of working amongst the right people, how industrial design is the last renaissance in our modern world and what its like working as a designer at Ford. Digital product labeling that enables consumers to go beyond the traditional label to learn more about product origin, materials and features, and to help brands establish a new, digital channel to engage directly with and learn from their customers… Bruce Thomson, Co-founder/CEO of BrightLabel (a software platform that leverages mobile technology to enable digital product labeling in the textiles and apparel sector), joins Stephanie Benedetto and Samanta Cortes in the MouthMedia Network studios powered by Sennheiser. 051 – Bruce Thomson of BrightLabel – The Label is the Story

Bruce Thomson feels compelled to paint. He attended the Ontario College of Art, graduating from the Industrial Design Program where his favorite subjects were automotive. It was at this time that Bruce saw a painting of an F1 car in a store window and thought; “I could do better than that”. And he did. Thus began his obsession with the visual archiving of automobilia through sketching, illustration, and painting. Not satisfied with this, Bruce attended the Royal College of Art Vehicle Design Program in London, England where he sketched, conceived, drew and learned from some of the most talented and creative people in the design field. On graduation, he worked for Ford of Europe in Köln Germany, before returning to Canada to work as a Professor in the Industrial design Department at Humber College in Toronto where he teaches, amongst other things, automotive design.
