Our hospice volunteers are an integral part of our team, providing important emotional and social support. Amphlett Blvd, Suite 300, in San Mateo.Volunteer responsibilities:As a direct care volunteer, you will support our hospice patients and their families with weekly visits - in their homes, in nursing homes, or wherever they live. We ask for a time commitment of 2-4 hours/week, based on your availability and our patients’ schedules. Following each visit, you will submit a brief summary report that is shared with the patient’s care team.Whether you are reading a book, running an errand, taking a short walk, or listening to stories, your time will make a very special difference in the lives of your patients and their families. Next steps:Please complete the application. Someone from our volunteer program will then contact you to schedule an initial interview.Required Training:No prior experience is necessary! Required introductory 6 session training will take place 9:30am-3:30pm on Saturdays, October 3rd, 10th, 17th, and 24th, as well as 6pm-8pm Thursday October 15th and 22nd.  All six training modules, plus an exit interview, must be completed prior to visiting patients.We also require a TB test (provided at the office) and background check, as well as core competency training annually.Volunteer support:We offer two monthly support groups for volunteers – one on the third Thursday evening of each month, and the other on the first Saturday morning.
