She graduated from Columbia College in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in social work. Her career in the mental health field started as a therapeutic counselor providing direct care to children with a vast array of mental, emotional, substance and behavioral health issues in Columbia South Carolina. In 2010 she completed her Master of Social Work at the University of South Carolina. After graduation she worked in a North Carolina Psychiatric Hospital as a Licensed Clinical Social Worker. Catina opened a private practice in Columbia South Carolina. In 2018 she discovered she is on the spectrum and has been advocating for research and mental health providers to recognize symptoms of autism in Black females.
