This week’s guest is design entrepreneur Eleazar Ruiz. For a decade Eleazar has been working simultaneously in the worlds of freelance, in-house design teams, and design agencies. Among his clients you will find: Microsoft, XBox, BEC Recordings, Tooth &amp; Nail Records, and The Gospel Coalition. Eleazar is a Co-Founder at Patrol as well as Creative Director at Humble Beast. Eleazar Ruiz has been designing, writing, and creating for the local church in various mediums his entire life. Eleazar grew up in a creative and theatrical home in the Dominican Republic and moved to the U.S. in 2009. He and his wife Bekah live in the Portland, Oregon area. Along with his brother, Rommel, they founded Patrol, a team of storytellers and artists producing books which tell fiction and non-fiction stories inspired by the Bible. During the summer of 2018, Eleazar transitioned into his new role as the Creative Director at Humble Beast. Our Managing Editor, Jackie Crane, spoke with him about the role of creativity in the church and one of Patrol’s latest projects, The Gospel In Color, a guide for families to talk about racial reconciliation. Eleazar Ruiz is a graphic designer, writer, and entrepreneur. I was introduced to Eleazar's work by a listener, and I'm so grateful for that connection. Eleazar and I got together in person on a sunny summer day at my studio in Seattle. I really appreciated my time with Eleazar, so much so that I commissioned him shortly after to create the first artwork for this podcast. So you're likely already familier with his work. As you'll hear in the interview, Eleazar has a heart for people, and he's done some work to build a career that fits him. I was inspired by his story, and I hope you will be too.
