We discuss the importance of ICT in South Africa’s future and the role of government to facilitate access to 21st century technology across society to optimise businesses, generate new employment opportunities, revolutionise content platforms, transform the communication space, and promote equitable participation in the 4th Industrial Revolution (4IR). New technology will replace dated methods of working, which necessitates digital literacy, coding and e-learning programs for both young and old.
