Guest starring Lashawn “Suga Ray” Marston Artist - Author - Educator - PhilanthropistLashawn Marston, aka "Suga Ray", a Queens native, was born on March 14th, 1984 to Leroy Evans and Kim Marston and was the youngest child of both parents. He attended several schools in Western Queens, including P.S. 111, P.S. 76, I.S. 204, I.S. 126, and I.S. 145, where he graduated with honors. He finished at The Door, a high school equivalency program in Manhattan, where he received his High School Equivalency Diploma in August 2000.Lashawn has had to overcome great personal adversity (losing his dad at a young age, being shot, going to prison) and in 2007 made a conscious decision to remove himself from the destructive path he found himself on and instead decided to use his time to help families and individuals that were burdened with their own trials. Lashawn began volunteering his time alongside countless community activists, such as Erica Ford in Queens and Geoffrey Davis in Brooklyn. With the guidance of these two giants, "Suga Ray", built a global name for himself.He has traveled throughout the U.S addressing many issues that plague the Nation, especially the people and communities that have been historically underserved. Lashawn Marston, aka Ray Ray or "Suga Ray", as most know him, was Born in Queens, NY on March 14th, 1984, to 22yr old Kim Marston and 55yr old Rev. Leroy Evans Sr.Growing up in Queensbridge and South Jamaica during the early-late 90's, "The Heart Of The Crack Era", Suga Ray saw a lot and eventually became heavily involved in the street life!Suga Ray always had a way with words and a charming personality to match. Not to mention he was talented, and had a deep passion for acting! But like many talented people who don't pursue their dreams, they become bored and things began to spiral out of control.His thought process changed. His heart began to show. He loved people. He loved meeting them, laughing with them and just getting to know them! He started writing again. Letters to friends. Poems. Stories. Everything! People fell in love with the way Ray used words, in speech or in print.During the summer of 2008 Suga Ray had saw more money than ever before in his life! He was chillin. But he kept seeing the signs. Bad things ahead. So he bought a small video camera.
