There are many great reasons for entrepreneurs like you to belong to the Small Business Association of Michigan. Ask Jeff Farrington how he feels about SBAM. “Oh I think it’s fantastic.”Jeff is the Chief Operating Officer for Gordon Advisors in Troy.“My background real brief is that as a small business owner myself I was a member. I then became a state representative and I chaired a couple of committees, including the tax policy committee. And I was involved with them on the advocacy side and how much they fought for small businesses. People need to understand that all businesses are not the same. Large corporations and small businesses often fight for the same things and often fight for very different things. So if you’re a small business owner, I’d say make sure that you  help out on the advocacy because the people in Lansing, the people in Washington, D.C., are often making rules that help or hurt you and you want a voice in that. Plus they have nice resources and everything but for me, it was more the advocacy, that I knew that someone was fighting for me on my side. But also the networking. Those were some of the reasons that I thought were important.
