You Had To Be There 12 - "Snatch Smack" W/ Cori Ramsay!

Cori Ramsay has lived in Prince George for the last sixteen years and calls the region home. In 2010 Ramsay graduated from the University of Northern British Columbia with a Bachelor of Arts. Since then she has worked in the Financial Services Industry in a variety of roles including bank teller and retail lending support.  Ramsay grew up living in poverty and made it clear that she is passionate about poverty reduction, accessibility and homelessness. In 2017 Ramsay gave a TEDx talk titled Poverty and the Power of Living Wage. In 2018 her work on the Living Wage and her commitment to her community earned her a place on the Prince George Chamber of Commerce Top 40 Under 40 list.  Actively involved in her community, Ramsay is the Chair of the Board for the Two Rivers Gallery, sits as an Alumni Senator on UNBC’s Senate, is the Treasurer for the CFUR Radio Society and recently chaired the Advisory Committee on Council Remuneration for the City of Prince George.  As a young professional in Prince George, Ramsay believes that she can make a difference and bring a progressive voice to council representing the citizens of Prince George. Ramsay is not shy when it comes to the board room and has a great deal of experience when it comes to governance, policy development, and strategic planning. Last year Ramsay attended the United Nations Active Citizens Social Enterprise forum learning about the Sustainable Development Goals and how communities can leverage the goals in their communities. She plans on focusing on issues such as poverty, hunger, health, education, global warming, gender equality, water, sanitation, energy, urbanization, environment, and social justice. In her spare time Ramsay can be found beekeeping, dancing at Judy Russell’s Enchainement Dance Centre, playing saxophone for the Prince George Community Band, volunteering at MakerLab or the Two Rivers Gallery, or sewing costumes for local theatre groups.
