David Bickerstaff - Film Director in the UK - Heavy Water: A Film for Chernobyl, Painting the Modern Garden: Monet to Matisse, Michelangelo: Love and Death, and Van Gogh and Japan

David Bickerstaff is an Australian artist and filmmaker who lives and works in London. With a degree in painting, Bickerstaff started Atomictv in 1997 to develop projects that use time based media on new digital platforms for artistic output. These projects include immersive video installations, documentaries, multimedia commissions, sound based projects, and online works, and are developed in collaboration with artists from various disciplines. His projects Altenberg: The Little Pocket Mirror, Tales from the Bridge, Dreamscape, Narrenturm, Hygieia, Making War Horse and the award winning Heavy Water: a film for Chernobyl, have been broadcast internationally and screened at numerous festivals; the Freud Museum, London; the Wellcome Collection, London; Tate Modern, London; Festival International du Film sur L’Art, Montreal; Sheffield Doc Fest; and the Documentary Fortnight at the Museum of Modern Art, New York. Bickerstaff is a consultant and Creative Director for Newangle Productions: a digital agency that produces immersive video installations and interactive experiences. Recent commissions include exhibits for the British Museum, Victoria and Albert Museum, Historic Royal Palaces, Museum of London, the Royal Observatory, and Cadbury World. Bickerstaff is guest faculty for the Visual and Digital Art thematic residency Food Water Life.
