The Quad City Music Academy is a new school for students pursuing their musical education in cello, violin, viola, or bass. Private lessons are offered with a variety of accomplished professional musicians, and specialized courses and workshops are also available. The Academy is the first of its kind in the Quad Cities. Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the fall 2020 semester will be held online.

The conversation includes advocacy for survivors of domestic and sexual violence along with tangible solutions to support young models just starting out in the industry protecting them from sexual abuses and harassment.        More about Nicole:Nicole Meyer is a versatile model and global activist from Paarl, Western Cape, in South Africa. She is currently working as a volunteer for online prayer movement #Pray4TheWorld as a translator, she’s an active advocate for domestic violence survivors and victims of cyber bullying as well as being an ambassador for Beauty for Freedom, fighting to end human trafficking throughout the world and empowering survivors.  Even as a young girl, growing up with her twin brother, she did not appreciate school and sought another career, eventually leading her to become a model. She has completed ads for Guess, Anion timepieces, Adil Isik Lookbook for Fall/Winter 2011 and 2012, plus Anjalee and Arjun Kapoor. Nicole Meyer also modeled for Maisha bags Fall/Winter 2011, Christopher Strong, Ann Summers, Lipsy London, and Sportalm. Besides her advertising expertise, she is also a strong model in editorials. She was the cover model of Grazia Croatia, Conleys, T3 UK, Melissa Odabash, and Besame. Meyer was also the cover girl for FHM South Africa in March 2014. Denim Day and SAAM Episode Featuring Model Activists Hannah Holman and Nicole Meyer

The vintage 1946 film noir movie Deception will be played at the Figge Art Museum on Wednesday, October 2, 2019. Prior to the film, Hannah Holman, Principal Cellist for the Quad City Symphony Orchestra, will talk about Eleanor Aller Slatkin, the female cellist who played the Korngold Cello Concerto for the film. Erich Wolfgang Korngold composed his Concerto specifically for this movie. Eleanor Aller Slatkin was an accomplished musician who became the principal cellist for the Warner Bros. Studio Orchestra in 1939. She played the concert premiere of the Korngold Cello Concerto with the Los Angeles Philharmonic and had a long, illustrious career. In 1958 she won a Grammy Award as a member of the Hollywood String Quartet which she co-founded with her husband, Felix Slatkin. Due to clever filming, many viewers of the film Deception erroneously believe that the Concerto was performed by Paul Henreid, who played the character of the cellist Karel Novak in the movie.
