Melissa Bordeau is originally from Minnesota and lives in Austin, TX now. She is a freelance photographer and loves to listen to live music in the Austin area. Melissa loves photography so much because it helped her learn how to be present and aware of your surroundings. Some of her biggest motivation in life is being able to slow down, look around, take a deep breath, and just be present! Isn't that refreshing? Her favorite thing about Austin is the sense of community and entrepreneurial energy present in the city. She has two dreams that were talked about in this podcast: Becoming a Destination wedding photographer and turning a house into an event venue. The Art of Being Present and Destination Wedding Photography with Melissa Bordeau

In this episode, we sat down with Melissa Bordeau of @Bordeauphoto, a local #Austin, Texas Wedding, Portrait, and Real Estate Photographer! She talked about how she became inspired to do #photography through the #musicindustry and covering events like #SXSW, and what her experience was like. She also talked about how she became inspired to expand her photography skills into the portrait industry after helping another photographer with an engagement session and the importance of a #mentor. She also talked about how when #COVID first hit, she understood that she had to pivot and adapt to the situation. It ended up actually giving her time to open up a print shop, since she also loves Nature and Travel Photography. She also talked about how the Real Estate Industry side of her photography kept consistent, because of the ease of social distancing measures. She also explained how important it is to develop your own style. During the conversation, we talked about how when first starting out, you want to mimic or copy others style of creativity, but that ultimately developing your own style will attract people to you in the long run.
