In the second episode of the mini series, Dr. Tara Shirazian joins Dr. Fox to talk about "Saving Mothers," a nonprofit which she founded to improve maternal health worldwide. In this episode, Dr. Shirazian explains her background and education and why she is passionate about global health. She discusses her experience as an OBGYN and why she “always cared a lot about the access [to healthcare] of the underserved communities.”

I met Dr. Tara through a mama community not long ago and reached out to learn more about the launch of her new product line, Mommy Matters which directly supports her nonprofit, SavingMothers.org. She’s a mother, a practicing OB/GYN, and a supporter of all things postpartum wellbeing, so I was excited to share about her work on the podcast. Listen to our conversation to learn more about how she created the first pair of postpartum underwear (can you believe there was nothing like this available??), and about how she performs much needed surgery and care to women around the world. Intrepid mother of two, Taraneh Shirazian is a practicing gynecologic surgeon and an Assistant Professor at NYU Langone Medical Center in New York City. She founded the nonprofit organization Saving Mothers in 2009 to combat maternal mortality around the globe, and recently launch Mommy Matters, a brand dedicated to creating products for moms’ comfort and recovery during pregnancy and postpartum. Dr. Shirazian is recognized as an international leader in global women’s health and a frequently cited expert in this field.
