This episode, our subject matter presentation is "Why mindset matters". As coaches, we would like it if all our athletes would be confident, optimistic, and coachable all of the time but that rarely comes to fruition and the thought then becomes, that's just an unrealistic expectation! The reality is, coaches have the power and ability to do this more frequently if they would only consider modifying their own mindset approach. We are not in the sports business; we are in the people business! Balls don't move people, and pucks don't move people, people move balls and pucks! The more we know how to motivate and inspire the faith, belief, and confidence of our athletes, a mindset shift happens and their desire to compete grows exponentially.  Here's a simple concept to understand; research tells us that if a person feels good about who they are, what they do, tends to almost always be done with more effort and enthusiasm. So our objective is to truly know the character and mindset of our athletes so we are able to effectively motivate and inspire them to better performance.
