In his book How Art Can Be Thought (2018), Allan deSouza (Department of Art Practice, UC Berkeley) investigates such questions and the popular terminology through which art is discussed, valued, and taught. Allan deSouza's photography, scultpure, and installation and performance work have been exhibited extensively in museums an dgalleries around the world, including the Whitney Museum of American Art (NY), Pompidou Centre (Paris), Mori Museum (Tokyo), and Bamako Encounters (Mali). His wirting has appeared in various art publications. He is on the faculty of the MFA program at Vermont College. On Thursday, October 26, 2006, he showed slides of his work and provided explanations as part of the College of Fine Arts' Visiting Artists and Scholars Lectures, 2006-2007.
