Nombreux sont les spécialistes évangéliques à faire aujourd'hui appel au “Sensus Plenior" pour expliquer la manière dont les prophéties de l'Ancien Testament s'accomplissent dans le Nouveau. Mais l'usage même du label “Sensus Plenior” est disputé, l'expression ayant été utilisée différemment dans l'histoire de l'interprétation de la Bible. Mandimby Ranaivoarisoa propose un éclairage sur le sujet. Après avoir défini précisément ce que l'on entend par “Sensus Plenior”, il donne plusieurs exemples de prophéties particulièrement difficiles : celles qui semblent déjà s'être accomplies dans l'Ancien Testament, mais que les auteurs du Nouveau Testament appliquent de malgré tout à Christ avec, apparement, un sens différent.
