On today's episode I chat with Patricia Rich. This is her 2nd appearance on the podcast. The first was entitled Self-Led Sexuality and that is what we talk about today- which involves a whole lot more then you may think. I appreciate Patty inviting us over and over again to check in with our parts as we talk, knowing we are covering sensitive topics. We also have a lot of laughter and distracted parts. My favorite thing Patty says is towards the end where she talks about the 6 S's of sexuality (which she covers in the first episode in detail). She asks us to consider what is between us and certain S words. I encourage you to consider this idea and be with all the parts who may come up as you listen. Patty is a Certified IFS Therapist and Approved Consultant and an AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor. She has developed a unique integrative model for helping people to feel more ease, joy and confidence in the realm of sexuality and has originated IFS-informed concepts such as Internal Consent and The Six S’s of Sexual Self-Energy. Patty has presented at the IFS Annual Conference, taught a module for the IFS Institute Online Continuity program, and led workshops internationally. IFS and Talking about Sex with Patricia Rich

Patricia Rich, is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Certified IFS Therapist and AASECT Certified Sex Therapist and Supervisor. She fell in love with IFS in 2011 and has since completed Level 3, served as a Program Assistant and offered IFS workshops. She founded The Relating Well Center, LLC, a relationship and sexuality focused private practice in the Philadelphia area. When Patty first became interested in IFS, she thought it would be useful in the treatment of sexual dysfunction. Then, as she learned the model she got curious about how sexuality “lives” in the internal system. Now she believes that IFS is not only extremely useful in the healing of sexual dysfunction and trauma, but  also for navigating today’s complex landscape of sexuality in a Self-Led way . She brought her insights to the IFS Annual Conference first as a half day session and then as a full day Pre-Conference workshop. Sexuality through IFS Lens with Patricia Rich

She brings her expertise, her vulnerability, and her warmth to teach us about this new model based on IFS. I had to get a few of my parts to settle down before this episode. I speak for some of them at the beginning, like my giggling Middle School part and my 'Don't say too much personal stuff!' part. Patricia and I spend the first 30 minutes on process and connection and the last half on content. We talk a lot about 'internal consent' and the importance of knowing, hearing from and being with your own parts. You may find you also need to work with your own parts as you listen to the episode.
