The viaduct is far more quiet than some were expecting.The America's Cup was forecasted to bring in hundreds of millions of dollars in spending, but it's been heavily impacted by border closures and lockdowns.Commercial and Events manager at Sol Bar and Bistro Olivia Carter told Heather du Plessis -Allan it's a bit disheartening."There is quite a good atmosphere in Sol and it was exciting when the racing was happening, but the Viaduct is very, very quiet today."She says it was surprising that there wasn't much foot traffic, which she describes as disheartening and scary. Brett Sweetman, general manager of the Park Hyatt hotel, says they are just waiting for Level One."You have to make the most of it and work with the guests and make sure they have a good time."LISTEN ABOVE

What's set to become one of the country's most expensive hotel suites may sit empty as borders remain shut.Despite uncertainty around international tourism, the luxury Park Hyatt hotel in Auckland's Wynyard Quarter will open in September.Its top-floor room is a $10,000 per night 'Presidential Suite' with panoramic views and a private garden and terrace.Manager Brett Sweetman told Tim Dower they'll be changing their approach initially to target more budget-conscious Kiwi travellers."We have got four restaurants and cafes, and we're  just having to be patient and appreciate things will be different."Brett Sweetman says the industry's desperate for movement around a trans-Tasman bubble by the end of the year.LISTEN ABOVE
