This week, Polly Smith talks running events like the British Book Awards and FutureBook for The Bookseller, as well as her career from a young publishing hopeful to her place at the center of British publishing today. Polly Smith is Events Executive at the Bookseller. After graduating from Newcastle University with a degree in English Literature, Polly interned for the Publisher’s Association before moving over to The Bookseller as an event coordinator. Clearly not busy enough, Polly also joined the Society of Young Publishers as a UK events officer before being promoted to her current role of Events Executive. She is the wife to a teacher and a mother to two boys. One of her favourite things to do is to spend time walking in nature and/or to spend time with her family. At the moment, her favourite bible verses are Romans 8:1 and 2 Timothy 1:7.
