CRCS Outdoors began in 1993, the year I was born, when my dad started teaching at Cuba-Rushford Central School in Western New York. And he had a group of eighth grade boys approach him about they loved his science class, he was teaching shark dissections. And my dad asked, you know, what would they want to do extra outside of school and they said they wanted to do something big.  So, you know, long story short, they have created a working fish hatchery, a wildlife center, a wetland facility, a man-made pond with a research facility, a whitetail deer research facility, all at a public high school. On top of that they do…so my dad, on top of that, is still an eighth grade science teacher, still doing shark dissections, and all of the things that he did with the eighth grade students continues. The fish and wildlife program is offered two periods a day to all of the kids in the high school. And he’s also still doing, you know, Envirothons. If you’ve ever heard of the Envirothon, it’s an environmental science exam competition. So that’s something they do every year. We actually bring hunters, fishermen into the classroom to teach hunting and fishing lessons in class at a public high school, which is pretty amazing. And then the last thing is the television show is run right out of our classroom. So there are student editors that are able to actually do a lot of the work on our national television show.
