A few months ago we put out a call to the YT community. We asked you guys who you wanted to hear on the podcast. Mary Knott on Thru-Hiking the Tahoe Rim Trail

A total of 321.6 miles of swimming, biking and running on the weekend after Thanksgiving is the Ultraman World Championship. Three-time podcast guest, two-time Ultraman official finisher, multi-time Kona qualifier, age group champion and experienced endurance competitor and crew member, Mary Knott is a serious badass. Inside and out, this girl is getting the work done and crushing her goals.She has the skill to bring a goal into her life and focus on it steadfastly for a long period of time. Whatever it takes, she's all in and she is not afraid to fail. She says that she hasn't found her limits yet and I don't believe she will.  Mary is a dedicated meditator. She communes every day with her higher, limitless Self. Over time that limitlessness will soak deeply into your cells.Building from a desire to get more out of everything in life, Mary committed to a meditation practice in 2017. She has written about her experiences with meditation and wrote a special post on mantras for the SmashFest Diaries .Mary's journey is unfolding so perfectly and we're so grateful that she chose to come back to share about her epic Ultraman flow. Mary Knott on Ultraman Flow and No Longer Needing Her Why

“Be careful what you water your dreams with. Water them with worry and fear and you will produce weeds that choke the life from your dream. Water them with optimism and solutions and you will cultivate success.Always be on the lookout for ways to turn a problem into an opportunity for success. Always be on the lookout for ways to nurture your dream.”― Lao TzuAt the age of six, Mary told her family that she was going to be a veterinarian and from that moment on she kept her focus on this goal. She continually shaped her mindset in support of her ambition and consistently took the next logical step to make it her reality. At the age of 19, she was accepted into veterinarian school and well, the rest is history.Mary’s ability to focus on a goal for a long period of time had been exposed to those around her and fully unleashed within her as she entered into adulthood. Her clarity around goal setting at such a young age tells us that Mary was born with a naturally strong will which is a faculty of the mind required for long-term, uncluttered focus. It is what is required for all dream realization, goal achievement and journies into the unknown. It is the part of us that allows for one pointed fixation that grants us the clarity to take action that is in alignment with our objective. Will is powerful but when paired with patience it leads to a journey of flow and a path of purpose. Patience is the piece that gives us the vision to learn from our experiences along the way, to grow in the rough spots and no matter what happens between point  A and point B, patience will always hold our dreams close to the heart.In October of 2013, Mary announced another life goal but this time it wasn’t just to her family, it was to the world. She boldly lifted the veil of her online persona, Runner Chick to introduce the deep vulnerability of Finding Kona. In a matter of a few words, Mary paralleled herself with the best of the best in the sport of triathlon and officially embarked on her quest to qualify for the Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii.This is a conversation about perseverance and it’s about not backing off a dream no matter how far off it appears. It’s about remaining committed and relentlessly patient so that the perfect series of events may unfold. And it’s about embracing the understanding that if we really want to a attain a goal in life we must remain 100% focused on pursuing its realization. There are many things to tempt us in life and pull us out of focus, especially if we are seekers, a title that pretty much pertains to everyone who reads this blog and listens to this podcast, but this is where our will comes into play. It is our ability to focus intensely and with intention that drives forward our momentum to reaching what we dream of in this life.
