John Jobe, the 4-H Agent in Riley County, makes an in-studio visit to talk with us about his lifelong interest in helping young people learn in effective, meaningful ways. He talks about current research in child development which points to methods that have been used in 4-H for decades and why he believes 4-H is the preeminent extracurricular activity for children and teens from all walks of life and with all kinds of interests. We also get to hear about John’s trip to Washington, D.C., with some 4-H’ers and how they accidentally ended up where they weren’t supposed to be at the Capitol! And John tells us a funny story about a mouse, a canoe and a pair of arguing camp volunteers from England and Ireland.
