Episode 3: Courtney Santana

Courtney’s experience as a victim of domestic violence is an all too common one, but the steps she’s taken afterward, to use her experience as a catalyst for change in her community, is unique. We talked about taking that first step to get into shelter and the long journey from institutional dependency to thriving and get into how DV is one of the primary causes driving up homelessness in the US and what she and her company are doing about it.  We also talked about how important it is to celebrate the small wins on the path to leadership and why its so important to stop relying on institutional crutches and move away from a poverty mindset.
